Dilip Kumar was born on December 11, 1922, in Peshawar, Pakistan, to Lala Ghulam Sarwar and Ayesha Begum. He was the second of 12 children in his family. His father Lala Ghulam Sarwar was a small landowner and fruit trader. At the time of partition, his family settled in Mumbai. Dilip Sahab’s childhood was spent in the condition of poverty.
